The University of Alberta has entered into agreements to co graduate students and foster collaboration across fields.


Sponsored students are students whose studies are fully funded by their governments, companies or other external organizations. This support can cover expenses such as tuition fees and living costs. The University of Alberta International (UAI) oversees all scholarship agreements for graduate students.


Scholarship Types; Undergraduate, Masters, PhD

Value & Duration of Award;


1. For Undergraduate Programs;

These scholarships are available for first year students enrolled in undergraduate degree programs with a Student Visa Permit.
The scholarships amount up to $9,000. Are distributed over a period of four years.

2. For Masters Programs;

Masters degree students will receive a stipend of $17,500.
International candidates will also receive a $10,000 to cover their fees.

3. For Doctoral Programs;

These scholarships amount to $5,000, per year.
They are specifically intended for PhD students. Aim to cover their fee requirements.

Application Process; To be considered for entrance scholarships at U of A you just need to apply for admission. Once you've completed your application we will automatically review your eligibility.


Eligibility:


To be considered for the University of Alberta Scholarship applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria based on their desired program;


Masters Programs;

  • Completion of a four year baccalaureate degree or its equivalent, from an institution recognized by the University of Alberta.
  • An admission grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on most 4 point grading systems or a grade of B on most letter grading systems. This GPA should be based on your two years of full time study or its equivalent.


Doctoral Programs;

  • Completion of a masters degree or its equivalent from an institution recognized by the University of Alberta.
  • An admission grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on most 4 point grading systems or a grade of B on most letter grading systems. This GPA should be based on your two years of full time study or its equivalent.


Additionally certain departments may have requirements, such as submitting a statement detailing your research interests demonstrating work experience in the field or providing educational test scores like the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Miller Analogies Test. It is recommended to contact the department to inquire about any additional requirements.

Please note that meeting these eligibility criteria does not guarantee admission, to the University Alberta Scholarship program.

Required Documents; In order to complete the application process candidates are required to submit the following documents;


1. Transcripts

2. Degree certificates

3. English Language Proficiency scores (such as IELTS, Pearson, TOEFL) if applicable

4. Curriculum Vitae (CV) statement of intent and writing samples

5. Test scores, like GRE, GMAT, Miller Analogies Test or any other relevant tests

6. Reference letters (please provide names and email addresses of your references in the application)


To complete your application make sure to scan and save all your supporting documents (excluding reference letters), as PDF files. Then you can upload them directly to the online application portal. Remember to submit your documents before the programs application deadline.
