The Graduate Assistantship Program, for International Students at Western Oregon University offers an opportunity for students to gain experience and financial support while pursuing their Masters degree. This program provides a compensation package, which includes both salary and tuition remission in exchange for research or teaching services to the university. To be eligible students must be admitted into a full time program. Here are some key details about the program;

Value & Duration of Award; The Western Oregon University graduate assistantships offer the following benefits;
- Each Graduate Assistant will receive a stipend of $1176 for a period of 9 months.
- University appointed graduate students are paid based on the established salary rates. Are exempt, from paying tuition fees for up to twelve (12) graduate credit hours per term.
- Graduate assistants are responsible for paying building fees, incidental fees, health fees, a one time matriculation fee, online fees and any other approved fees as per the graduate student fee schedule at WOU. Please refer to the WOU tuition and fee schedule for details.
- If an assistant is authorized to register for than twelve (12) graduate credit hours per term the institution will charge them the rate for additional instruction, beyond the twelve credit hour limit.

Eligibility
To qualify for an assistantship, at Western Oregon University you must meet the following requirements (please indicate your acknowledgement by initialing to each statement in agreement with the rules and regulations);
- You must be fully admitted to a masters degree program at Western Oregon University.
- Your duties as an assistant should align with your graduate program and/or career expectations. The assistantship should commence no later than the beginning of week one of the term.
- You must have an approved program for a WOU masters degree on record in the Graduate Programs office by the week of the term in which you hold the assistantship.
To be considered for renewal you must fulfill all of these criteria;
- Maintain a grade point average of 3.00 on all graduate level courses taken.
- Have no than 8 credits with C grades.
- Avoid receiving any grades of D or F.
- Enroll in a minimum of eight/nine and a maximum of sixteen hours of graduate coursework each term.
- During the summer term students have flexibility. Can enroll in a few, as three credits.
In the semester of your enrollment it is possible for a student to complete their program without needing to take a load of eight or nine credits. If a student received ratings (with a score of 3) on all supervisor evaluations, in the previous term they would meet this requirement.
