2024 McDonald Fellowships (Fully Funded)

Applications are currently being accepted for the McDonald Fellowships. In this article we will provide information, about this scholarship program, including its advantages and a step by step guide on how to apply.



The McDonald Fellowships for the years 2024, and 2025 offer funded scholarships to international students pursuing masters or PhD degrees. These scholarships provide a two year grant of £30,000 per year to cover travel and living expenses. Additionally there is a contribution of £2,000 per year provided to the host institution.


The aim of the McDonald Fellowship is to support early career researchers specializing in sclerosis from middle income countries by giving them an opportunity to work in research institutions outside their own country. Upon receiving the fellowship it is expected that recipients will be able to utilize their acquired expertise and professional networks thereby contributing to sclerosis research and/or patient care in low and middle income countries.

Scholarship Coverage;


Recipients of the McDonald Fellowships will receive the following benefits;
  • A stipend of £30,000, for living expenses and travel costs.
  • A persons organization will be granted a sum of £2,000.

Eligibility


To be eligible, for the McDonald Fellowships candidates need to meet the following requirements;

  • Proficiency in English is required.
  • International students from middle income countries are eligible.
  • Candidates must be pursuing a Masters, PhD or MD degree.
  • Candidates working on sclerosis in a middle income country other, than their own are also eligible.

When applying candidates must choose a host institute either in their home country or a neighboring country if travel is permitted. The application will be submitted jointly by the candidate and the host institute.
If you are working or studying in a country with a middle or upper middle income (according to the World Bank definition) at the time of your nomination or if you are working on a project, in another country within the past six months before your nomination or if you are studying abroad on a project supported by an MS International Federation grant then you can apply for McDonald Fellowships.


To apply for McDonald Fellowships please follow these application instructions;


1. Fill out all sections of the application form.

2. The host should provide a supporting statement at the end of the application.

3. Include the names and contact details of three referees, including your supervisor or employer.

4. Ask your referees to submit reference letters before the deadline.
